Help create purpose and honor of service for returning Veterans, and help restore and protect our coral reefs.
Veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan experience an incredible amount of pain and trauma, made worse by a feeling of "separation from service" and lack of a positive mission going forward. At the same time, rising water temperatures, ocean acidification, pollution, overfishing and overdevelopment have brought our oceans, rivers and lakes to the brink of destruction.
Greater Good Charities works with Force Blue to restore damaged and dying coral reefs, and to help restore the lives of veterans. Through its utilization of veteran Special Operations Forces, divers and connections with leading experts in marine science and conservation, Force Blue serves as a rapid response environmental and marine conservation group; and gives the most highly trained divers in the world a new purpose to serve. The agency's structure provides these veterans with a team structure that assists these former elite combat veterans in their healing process.
Force Blue's current efforts, PROJECT PROTECT, focuses on the recovery, restoration and protection of the Florida Reef Tract, the third largest natural reef in the world and a US national treasure. It hopes to reduce the spread of the stony coral tissue-loss disease outbreak by building "fire walls" within health coral colonies to help steam the spread; and help rescue and restore the populations of the Florida green sea turtles.
You can help. Your donation makes these critical missions happen and benefit the lives veterans and coral reefs.
FORCE BLUE is a non-profit 501(c)(3) that seeks to unite the community of Special Operations Veterans with the world of coral reef conservation for the betterment of both. FORCE BLUE gives former combat divers and SOF veterans an opportunity to experience and explore one of the most critically endangered ecosystems on the planet and to adapt their training and teamwork to aid in its protection.
